VASSALBORO – Two people died Friday night as the result of a head on crash on Route 201, Kennebec County Sheriff Ken Mason said Monday.
The collision occurred just before 9:30 p.m. near the fire department, Mason said.
Robert Trudeau, 55, of Winslow was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brenda Clark, 61, of Skowhegan was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, where she later died.
Mason said witnesses at the scene reported Trudeau’s jeep was seen operating erratically on Route 201 just before it crossed the center line and hit the car driven by Clark.
According to Mason, there is no indication yet if the accident was alcohol or weather related.
He said the preliminary investigation indicated neither driver was wearing a seat belt.
