STATEWIDE (WGME) — Maine’s Hire-a-Vet Campaign 2020 kicked off virtually Tuesday.
The goal is to get at least 100 Maine employers to hire at least 100 veterans and military family members during a 100-day period.
This year more than 200 employers are ready to hire.
“Waking up on time, being able to follow direction, take orders, free-thinking, that is a special breed of individuals and that’s who we are, whether you’re still in reserve capacity, retired, finished your service. You bring a special set of skills that the majority civilian population either does not have or has lost over time,” said Jesse Lord, co-founder of Veteran Education and Transition Services.
More than 250 employers took part last year and hired 283 veterans and military family members.
