HOLDEN – President Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is coming to Holden Wednesday to host a “Make America Great Again” event.
“The biggest thing for the Holden Police Department is we’re concerned with security of Donald Trump Jr. and of course traffic and the impact on businesses around that location and the residents that live nearby,” said Police Chief Chris Greeley.
Some residents said they’re not looking forward to Wednesday’s visit, while others said they’re excited.
“He’s a sharp kid. He’s a worker. It’s very uncommon that you see a person of that caliber, that wealth, be a good worker as well,” a local resident said. “I’m looking forward to it.”
This event follows Eric Trump’s visit last Thursday, which brought in supporters to Camp Ellis Pier in Saco.
Donald Trump Jr. will be speaking for his father’s re-election effort at Maine Military Supply on Main Road, which is part of U.S. Route 1A, a road Greeley said sees tens of thousands of cars a day.
“There may be problems. There may be delays. Please be patient,” Greeley said.
Greeley added Holden police are working closely with the U.S. Secret Service to plan and take precautions as the campaign event approaches.
“I know our police department is right on top of it with the secret service, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, state police, to make sure the event goes as safe as possible for everybody,” said Holden Town Manager Benjamin Breadmore.
If you’re interested in attending the event, you can purchase a ticket on Donald Trump’s website. Wednesday’s event begins at 6 p.m.
