According to Police Chief Chris Greeley, the incident was reported to the department Monday.
Greeley told us the scammer was claiming to be from the Maine Department of Labor.
He also said scammers are sending people paperwork that looks similar to actual Department of Labor documents.
Greeley is asking people to be aware. If you feel like you’ve been targeted by scammers, contact your local police.
