GREAT POND – For the 10th year in a row, volunteers with House in the Woods are holding their ice fishing derby.
The nonprofit helps bring together active military members, veterans and their families through outdoor programs.
The derby is set to begin at 6 a.m. Saturday at Great Pond and everyone is welcome.
Tickets cost $5 dollars and enter anglers into both the derby and raffle.
There are three top prizes for the biggest brown trout, bass and pickerel. Some of the raffle prizes include a three-foot carved wooden bear, spray-in bed liner and jewelry boxes.
Paul House, a founder of House in the Woods, said in the past, the derby drew around 400 people but he is hoping the group will be able to break that record this year.
Tickets are available at the Great Pond Outdoor Adventure Center. For more information, call 584-2000
