BANGOR– The fair hosted over 170 different employers from Maine and around the country, with hundreds of opportunities for jobs and internships available for students to take.
“We have all industries represented and so we have finance industry with some of our banks that are here, we have engineering companies, we have hospitals that are available to hire health care providers. It’s just really something for everybody, any major can find a job here,” said Crisanne Blackie, director of the career center at UMaine.
She also said over 1000 students registered and attended the fair.
One Black Bear alumni, Brooke Fournier, came back with one of the attending employers and said she had personal experience of how the fair can help the students get jobs.
“I think it’s a great opportunity to for people to just get their foot in the door or just to see what’s out there. I think a lot of people don’t realize all the different opportunities that there are. They may not be able to know who’s hiring and when or what internship or summer programs that they have. So I think it’s a good idea to get out in between their classes and see what there is,” Fournier said.
