BANGOR – Husson University broke ground virtually on Maine’s largest College of Business.
The new College of Business building will be located on Husson’s Bangor campus.
While the groundbreaking of this magnitude is normally a reason to come together, due to COVID-19, Husson President Robert Clark said the making of a video was the safest and most practical way to share the landmark occasion.
The facility is made possible by donor support, with the largest gift given by the Harold Alfond Foundation, which provided a 4-million dollar matching gift.
“We are breaking ground today on a new, 17.2-million dollar facility. This new facility will allow us to better support the academic success of our students.” Husson University’s President Robert Clark went on to say “it will also serve as a catalyst responsible for the economic future of our state.”
The new facility will feature more than 42-thousand square feet of classrooms and offices, learning spaces for augmented and virtual reality and a space where legal studies can set up mock trials.
According to the video, the facility should be completed in time for the start of the 2021-22 school year.
