NORWAY – Investigators found what they believe to be the remains of a woman buried in the backyard of a property in Norway Tuesday.
According to public safety spokesman Steve McCausland, state police detectives and evidence technicians were conducting a search when they found the body at a property at 239 Harrison Road.
Authorities say the woman is believed to be in her 80s and likely died in the past 12 to 18 months.
According to police, the woman may have lived in a mobile home on the property.
McCausland says the remains were taken to the medical examiner’s office in Augusta, where an autopsy is expected to begin Wednesday.
From there, investigators will identify the woman and work to determine how she died.
