ORONO — Former second lady and wife of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was in Maine stumping for him Friday.
Jill Biden was here for the Biden-Harris campaign and stopped in Orono before heading Downeast to Blue Hill to visit lobstermen and women.
“The ripple effects of Trump’s trade war with China jeopardizes our industry and its impact cannot be understated,” Lisa Hanscom of Welch Farm in Roque Bluffs said before Biden spoke in Orono.
During her visit to Orono, Biden spoke about jobs, expanding broadband for small businesses and education, and how her husband will help with today’s “devastating times.”
“That’s why Joe is going to make sure the road, the steps to recovery, are just and equitable and they benefit all Americans all across this nation,” she said.
Biden said with less than 40 days before the election, the time is now to register and to vote, ahead of time if possible.
She spoke at Orono Brewing Company, then headed down to Blue Hill to speak at the public pier and get a look at a fishing vessel with officials at Lobster 207.
