CANAAN – Driver fatigue is being blamed for leading to a fatal crash in Somerset County over the weekend.
Emergency responders were called to the crash around 7 a.m. Saturday to Route 2 in Canaan, not far from the Pittsfield line, according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said Adam Durant, 34, of Levant was killed when his pickup truck crossed the center of the roadway, crashing head on into a pulp truck driven by Linwood Walker of Etna.
Durant died at the scene.
Both the pulp truck driver and a passenger in Durant’s vehicle, Robert Hall of Bangor, were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Officials said everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, and that driver fatigue seems to have caused Durant to cross into the other lane.
