WINTHROP – For some people, the dream stalls in the idea stage. Karen Richards-Toothaker tackled her project in between life’s moments.
“Inspired by our youngest daughter when her grandmother died, actually,” Richards-Toothaker, a children’s author, said.
It was 15 years from idea to publication for her book, “The Rag Doll Gift,” which now is available at inyourheartbooks.com.
“So, it is a story of grieving. It’s helping children through grief. But it’s also a story about connections and a love that never ends,” the author said.
Richards-Toothaker said she knew what she wanted the end result to look like. It was just a question of how she would get there.
“Writing a children’s book is harder than you think because you have to say a lot with just a few words,” she said.
Richards-Toothaker said she has other book ideas that may lead her to keep following her dream.
“This story was just a story from the heart that I just really felt I needed to find a way to make this happen. So, did,” she said.
