AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday the number of coronavirus cases counted in Maine spiked by 43 to a total of 5,005 but that the statewide death toll held steady at 138.
Of the total cases detected in Maine so far, 513 were considered probable and 532 were considered active, Maine CDC posted in an update on its website.
The latest CDC COVID-19 statistics show 4,335 people have recovered from the virus since it hit Maine in mid-March, while a total of 437 people have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
So far, more than 361,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted around the state, according to the Maine CDC.
