BANGOR — Presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden announced his choice for vice president Tuesday.
The former vice president himself selected California Senator Kamala Harris to be his running mate.
On Twitter, Biden called his former campaign trail rival “a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants.”
The Maine Democratic Party released a statement applauding the decision, saying Harris is the “right person at the right time to take on Donald Trump and mike pence on the campaign trail.”
The Maine GOP also reacted to the announcement with a statement, calling Harris “too extreme for Maine” and taking aim at her positions on law enforcement and private health insurance.
The November election is 84 days away.
