Today the Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC) released a statement saying 2 more additional cases of COVID-19 have been detected at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham.
Both cases were males, one is in his 40’s and the other in his 60’s. The total number of inmates that have been diagnosed as positive sits at 4.
According to the release today a total of 744 tests samples have been taken from staff , Inmates, and contracted vendors.
The Maine DOC stated, all 284 tests of staff members have come back negative and of the 461 inmates at the facility , 4 have been confirmed overall.
The first case of COVID-19 in Windham Correctional Center was identified back on May 19th.
Within the coming days the department will be discussing with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention about re-testing the facility.
