YORK – A member of the state police has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement released Monday by a public safety department spokesman.
The person’s identity was not released but spokesman Steve McCausland said his duty included working at the Maine Turnpike Weigh Station in York, along the northbound lanes.
The Maine CDC has investigated who the member came in contact with, and McCausland said state police notified anyone that would need to self-quarantine.
McCausland said the officer and his family are doing well and are in good spirits.
The weigh station was closed Saturday morning after receiving notice of the positive test result. McCausland said the station received a thorough cleaning by “experts in the mitigation of COVID-19” and it was expected to reopen by the end of the day Monday.
