BANGOR – A majority of voters in Penobscot County support a $6 million bond to upgrade the public safety communications system.
The motion was put before voters during Tuesday’s primary.
Penobscot County administrator Bill Collins says currently there are over 22,000 votes approving the measure, and a little more than 8,000 people who oppose the bond issue.
“But the time is now. The first responders and the public safety, police, fire, EMS, along with our dedicated staff that have been able to share and convince the citizens of our county, the time is now,” Collins said.
He said they will make good use of the funding.
