BANGOR – A brotherhood of Masons gathered outside a busy retail store in the city to help a local organization that helps the needy.
Freemasons from Lynde Lodge in Hermon volunteered their time on Black Friday to ring the bell for the Salvation Army of Bangor.
“It’s an important cause and they serve a lot of people by doing and this is the Masons’ opportunity to help out,” said Audie Gould, a member of the Lynde Lodge.
There are 12 lodges in the Sixth District and every year members ring the bell for the Salvation Army.
The local Masonic lodge was chartered in 1874 by the Grand Lodge of Maine.
