MOUNT DESERT ISLAND — A local group, MDI Art for Justice, is looking for artists of all ages for a one-day pop-up art show.
The show is titled “The Art for Justice: Working Towards Equality.”
The exhibit will feature new pieces from local artists to artists around the country, and that’s where you can help.
“Art has a huge capacity to heal and to interrogate,” said Dani Robbins, a committee member. “A huge capacity for people to express trials they’ve been through themselves, to express grief around people who have lost their lives to racial injustice and also to challenge themselves.”
Robbins said she hopes the pieces spark conversations around issues of racial justice to get people talking and thinking about how it relates to their own lives.
Art pieces should be submitted to a link on the group’s Facebook page by Oct. 11.
The show is on Sunday, Oct. 18 in two locations, the Bar Harbor Congregational Church and at Lompoc Cafe and Books.
