BAILEYVILLE – Seven non-resident contractors who had been working at Woodland Pulp in Baileyville have tested positive for COVID-19
That according to Scott Beal, a spokesperson for Woodland Pulp.
Beal said the contractors, who are employed by Miller Mechanical Services out of Glens Falls, New York, tested themselves after leaving the mill in Baileyville before arriving at their next job, which is a requirement.
Beal said the mill had been shut down for a week due to planned maintenance, which brought somewhere in the area of 600 contractors to the mill.
Out of an abundance of caution, Woodland Pulp is working with Calais Regional Hospital and the St. Croix Health Center to have all its employees tested.
Beal said they have been in contact with the Maine CDC and an investigation is underway.
