ORRINGTON- Ahead of the presidential election, different city and town office officials are getting as many people as possible registered to cast their ballot.
It was National Voter Registration Day and officials from local areas like Bangor, Orono and Orrington opened their buildings for people to register.
We spoke to Orrington’s town clerk and she said everyone who registers to vote now instead of waiting until election day will be making life easier for city and town clerks across the country.
“The clerk’s job encompasses everything from voting registration to vehicle registration, hunting fishing, property taxes, you name it. Having people come in a head of time just helps alleviate a lot of the workload that the clerks have in the office,” Orrington Town Clerk Susan Carson said.
She added the deadline to register by mail is October 19.
