NORRIDGEWOCK — New Balance factories in Skowhegan and Norridgewock were closed Friday after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
According to a statement from a spokeswoman for New Balance, the factories were closed for additional cleaning as a precautionary measure.
She said as soon as the company was notified one of the workers at the Norridgewock factory tested positive, steps were taken to stop any potential spread of the virus.
According to her statement, this was the first confirmed COVID-19 case of any worker at any of the company’s Maine factories.
In July, the company closed the plants when an employee had COVID-19 like symptoms but was not diagnosed with the virus.
