BANGOR – Several Maine hospitals are among thousands that have been affected by a data breach.
According to a statement from Northern Light Health, cyber criminals attacked a company called Blackbaud, which hosts fundraising databases for the Northern Light Health Foundation and other medical systems.
According to Northern Light, no patients’ health records were affected, but information about donors to the Northern Light Health Foundation, those who may have attended fundraising events, and others the foundation works with are housed in the database.
Blackbaud says no credit card, bank account, or social security information was compromised, but cyber attackers may have accessed other information.
In a statement, Northern Light Health said it is working with the company to determine the impact of the attack, and will notify anyone whose personal information was accessed.
