BANGOR – Northern Light Health is offering its employees voluntary furloughs.
Paul Bolin, a Northern Light Health senior vice president, said the healthcare company has no plans for layoffs, pay reductions or involuntary layoffs.
Bolin said the company sent emails to its nearly 12,000 employees earlier this week to assure them their jobs are safe.
He said while elective surgeries and procedures are being canceled, there is plenty of work.
“You know, people need to do different things and be flexible. And to the extent they’re flexible in what they’re willing and able to do, we’re certainly being as flexible as we can be as well to make sure that we continue to provide meaningful work for people to do,” he said.
Bolin said voluntary furloughs of anywhere from one to four weeks are being offered to employees and that anyone who goes on furlough would be eligible for unemployment benefits because the furlough is related to COVID-19
