BELFAST – A nurse at Waldo County General Hospital has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement released Tuesday.
In a release from MaineHealth, the network which oversees the Belfast hospital and a handful of others, the nurse is self-isolated at home and all patients who came in contact with the nurse have been notified.
The hospital officials say they’re following all United States CDC guidelines with respect to “tracing her contacts within the hospital.”
In a statement, Mark Fourre, MD, the president of Waldo County General Hospital and Pen Bay Medical Center, said they’re committed to the health and well-being of their team members and patients, and are continuing “to take a high level of precaution” to protect them.
Fourre also noted that as coronavirus continues to spread across the state, “it’s anticipated that additional COVID-19 cases in the community will follow.”
