OWLS HEAD – The search is ongoing for a man believed to be missing and officials are looking off the coast of Owls Head.
Knox County Sheriff Tim Carroll said Thomas Hackett, 29, is from Pennsylvania but has distant family in Maine. He described Hackett as 6 feet tall with black hair and brown eyes.
He said the man left Pennsylvania on Thursday and his last known location was pinpointed to Hendrickson Point Road in Owls Head, where his car was found.
Officials said they’ve been searching since Saturday and found footprints leading to the water.
The Maine State Police Dive Team and Maine Marine Patrol are helping with the search.
Carroll said Hackett has left messages that have made them concerned for his safety.
“We’re just continuing our searching all through the coastline as well as there’s nearby islands just off shore, we’ve been searching those. Like I said, we’re searching from the air and just trying to get any information we can to the whereabouts of this gentleman,” he said..
Anyone with information is asked to call the Knox County Dispatch Center.
