ORONO – Helping teachers connect with their students in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic is at the forefront of an online teaching program.
Teaching from the Heart will help educators learn to manage their classroom as well as other learning environments with a curriculum based on Gina Simm’s book “Heart to Heart: Three Systems for Staying Connected”
Simm said participants will learn skills to help maintain students ability to self-regulate and improve emotional intelligence.
“Nonviolent communication has principles for effective communication based on compassion and, so I’ve taken those principles and laid them out into lessons for kids,” said Simm.
The program runs from August 24th through the 26th at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast, registration is $125.
Information is available on the Hutchinson Center’s website.
