BANGOR – City officials announced in a Facebook post last week a portion of the waterfront walking trail will be closed for the next two years.
The city is installing a 3.8 million gallon storage tank needed to reduce the number and volume of combined sewer overflows into the Penobscot River.
The tank will be located along the water, near the end of Walter Street.
A portion of the waterfront trail was closed last week and is expected to remain closed until the end of June 2022.
The trail closure begins at the parking lot located behind the Waterfront Concert Series venue and extends south to Dutton Street.
No public access will be allowed in the construction zone as a safety precaution.
