PORTLAND – A local woman with coronavirus is letting people know one symptom for her was the loss of smell.
A week ago, Deborah Napier was making dinner and discovered she couldn’t smell anything.
She tested positive for coronavirus and posted her story Tuesday on Facebook, she said, to educate people about the basically unknown symptom.
She posted, “I could smell and taste my lunch and then that night I could not smell or taste the food I made for dinner.”
Said she believes she was infected when she went to New York for her brother’s funeral.
After a British report was issued a couple of days ago warning of the strong connection between loss of smell or taste and the virus, doctors all over the U.S. began to issue notices that loss of smell was a telltale sign.
Napier said in her case, she has had few other symptoms.
“The good news is that we can get the virus and we won’t necessarily wind up in the hospital,” she posted
