BANGOR – A number of protesters gathered outside the Federal Building in Bangor Friday continuing their calls for Senator Susan Collins to support removing President Donald Trump from office.
Those rallying say they want the republican senator to stand up for her oath of office and the constitution.
One the protesters we spoke with says she used to support Collins, but the senator has been unable to adapt to changing times.
“I have been her supporter in the past, many people were,” said Melissa Burky of Indivisible Bangor. “She had a well over a 60% favorability rating, one of the highest favorability ratings in the state. She’s now gone to the second least popular senator in the United States.
“I think she may not win her seat, and I’m hoping that she does not win her seat,” Burky said, regarding Collins’ effort to get re-elected in 2020.
There is also a large, mobile billboard making its way through the Bangor area urging Collins to support impeachment.
