FARMINGTON – Many local residents say they’re both shocked and saddened by what happened Monday.
People across town heard or even felt the explosion causing windows to shatter and doors to be broken off the hinges.
One woman said she lives seven miles away from the building and her house shook.
At first some were saying they had no idea what was going on.
“I thought it was either an exploding building or airplane crash. I didn’t know, I had just driven by here about two minutes earlier down the center of town at a traffic light and just heard the boom,” said one local resident. “It’s over but the healing process is far from over for the families in the community.”
“It was horrific,” another woman who lives nearby told us. “Reactions of kids screaming, what’s going on?”
Community members agreed Farmington is a tight knit community.
People of all faiths were invited to gather together at St. Joseph Church to pray for those affected.
A special mass at St. Joseph Parish was also held followed by a candle light vigil.
