BANGOR – Eye witnesses said a woman driving a jeep on Hammond Street struck a parked car, tipping over her own vehicle and blocking traffic.
Shortly after the 11 a.m. crash, 38-year-old April Field of Greenfield was placed into handcuffs and taken to the police station to see if she was impaired in any way.
Police said she was later charged with operating under the influence.
“Distracted. Certainly. The driver said that they were looking at their GPS rather than the road. We’re going to see if that’s true,” said Bangor Police Sgt. Jason McAmbley.
Police officers could be seen taking photos of a marijuana pipe found in the roadway near the driver’s side window.
The sergeant said the investigation will include seeing if drug use played any role in the crash.
The roadway reopened just before noon.
