HOLDEN – An accident on Route 1A in Holden caused minor injuries and knocked out power for traffic signals at a busy intersection.
Holden Fire Chief Ryan Davis said this afternoon’s accident happened where Kidder Hill Road, or Route 46, meets Route 1A.
He said two vehicles collided while one was trying to turn at that intersection.
Crews were cleaning up and investigating into Saturday evening.
In the accident, a utility pole was hit, bringing down power lines.
“When we got here we found that the people were trapped inside the vehicle. Until we could isolate the power we had to keep them there. That left the patients in the vehicles for a little longer than we were looking for, but to safely get them out we had to get the power shut down,” said Chief Davis.
According to Davis, one person was taken to the hospital but all injuries are believed to be minor.
