MILFORD – A trash truck worker was struck and killed on the job Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities were called to the intersection of Oak and Emerald streets for a fatal accident around 2:15 p.m.
“There was a waste disposal truck that was working in the area collecting trash. One of the employees in that vehicle was struck and killed,” Penobscot County Sheriff Troy Morton said.
The man who died was identified as Ryan Leeman, 39, of Bangor. No other people were injured and no other vehicles were involved.
Sheriff Morton could confirm the trash truck was the only vehicle involved.
The sheriff’s office, state police and OSHA are all looking into the incident.
While it is early in the investigation, authorities do not believe this was a result of any criminal activity.
Authorities were expected to be on scene for a couple of hours reconstructing the accident, which remains under investigation.
