SEARSPORT – The town kicked off its 175th anniversary celebration by reenacting its first town meeting and the vote that gave the town its name.
Thursday’s reenactment was only the beginning. The town has a whole year of activities planned to mark the milestone.
“We are taking the whole week before the Fourth of July and every single day there will be a noon time concert and luncheon in the park out here by the church on Main Street,” said Karen Kelley, chairwoman of the Searsport 175 Committee.
Kelley said tall ships will also fill the harbor in July and they are planning a fall celebration.
