NATIONWIDE — America’s cybersecurity needs a more unified focus in defending the country against attacks, said Maine Sen. Angus King.
King said the United States needs a national cyber director to plan and coordinate a strategy for the nation.
The Independent senator was a member of the congressional Cyberspace Solarium Commission. That commission released a report earlier this year recommending “a strategic approach of layered cyber deterrence to defend the United States.
King said the most important step is to create the position of a national cyber director who can coordinate the numerous existing agencies already dealing with cyber defense.
