BELFAST – Friday’s snowstorm closed criminal courts across the state, and in turn postponed the sentencing of a convicted child murderer.
Sharon Kennedy, 35, formerly known as Sharon Carrillo, was convicted in December in the brutal beating death of her daughter, 10-year-old Marissa Kennedy.
Her attorney Chris MacLean said in a Friday email he expects to find out the new date for the sentencing sometime next week.
Julio Carrillo is serving 55-years in prison for his role in the death of the girl. The medical examiner said she died after months of daily beatings.
Kennedy’s marriage to Carrillo was annulled last month because Carrillo was married to another woman.
