STATEWIDE — Airports in Wiscasset and Eastport are set to receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal funding, according to an announcement from Sen. Susan Collins’ office.
According to the statement, Maine airports are suffering because of the decrease in airline passenger traffic caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Maine airports have been awarded a combined $545,000.
Eastport’s airport will receive $345,000 to reconstruct more than 4,000 feet of an existing runway. The Wiscasset airport will receive $200,000 to repair cracks in the existing terminal, according to Collins.
