BANGOR – A Harmony man has been charged for his alleged role in a shooting and subsequent high-speed chase that began in Waterville and ended in Canaan.
According to public safety spokesman Steve McCausland, 29-year-old Richard Murray-Burns was arrested Wednesday after he was released from Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center.
He was charged with aggravated attempted murder.
Murray-Burns had been at the hospital since December 22, recovering from gunshot wounds he sustained during a shootout with police.
Authorities say Murray-Burns then led police on a chase, which ended in Canaan.
Murray-Burns was taken to the Somerset County Jail, and is expected to appear in court either Thursday or Friday.
The deputy chief of the Waterville Police Department says officer Timothy Hinton, who was the one who responded to the original shoplifting complaint and was allegedly shot by Murray-Burns, is “recovering well” from his injuries.
