THORNDIKE – A Maine State Police trooper has been placed on administrative leave after he allegedly wounded a Thorndike man late Tuesday night.
According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland, the shooting happened outside 108 Ward Hill Road.
He said Eric Fitzpatrick, 33, is being treated at Northern Light Eastern Maine Maine Medical Center for two gunshot wounds.
McCausland said Fitzpatrick allegedly was shot by Trooper Thomas Bureau during what McCausland called an armed confrontation.
He said the shooting grew out of a domestic incident around 11 p.m.
Placing Bureau on leave is standard procedure while the attorney general’s office investigates the incident.
