SWANVILLE — Swanville residents will be voting on the future of the Swanville Dam on Saturday.
The dam is up for sale by Goose River Hydro.
They told town officials an interested buyer is looking to remove the dam and offered to sell it to the town for $150,000.
Right now, the dam holds back eight feet of water.
“The lake would revert to its original form, which is actually Goose Pond at the northern end and Goose River at the southern end,” said Bill Baxter, treasurer of the Swan Lake Association. “So it would essentially be a big stream instead of a lake all through that southern part.”
There will be a special meeting at the Swanville town office at 10 a.m. Saturday for residents to vote on the matter.
