BREWER – To raise money to help veterans, people were showing off their tattoos Sunday in Brewer.
Sunday afternoon was the third year the Maine Veterans Project put on the tattoo contest, where judges from local shops decided who had the best designs.
One of the tattoo artists from Diversified Ink said many military members have tattoos, and this event is a good way for them to share the stories behind their ink.
“Many of them have that in common and this is an excellent opportunity to bring them together, get them out of the house, talking with other people, and having this fun event for them to come to and you know share stories,” said Jason Drake, an army veteran and tattoo artist at Diversified Ink.
Sunday’s event also featured music, food, a car giveaway, and skydivers.
The Maine Veterans Project works toward suicide prevention and to help local vets.
