SEARSPORT- On Tuesday June 2, a charity food collection program will be hosting a special fund-raising event.
From 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Searsport First Congregational Church, the mission committee from The Kindness Program will be conducting their first ever virtual telethon fund-raiser for elderly and children facing food insecurity in Waldo County.
Jayne Snowdale, the program’s chairwoman, says the telethon is in response to the program’s demand for food and donations tripling during the pandemic.
“We need to drive home to people that hunger is real in America, small town America, which is what we are here in Waldo County, suffers and we need to help out when we can,” Snowdale said.
