BANGOR — His name is Peter Kelleher but his actions have caused others to call him The Soupman.
Kelleher began reaching out to the homeless and drug addicted after his son, Travis, died in 2016, a drug overdose victim.
On Monday, Kelleher made a portable shower for Bangor’s homeless permanent.
“And I don’t know why I was chosen. I can’t explain it. I don’t want to try and figure it out — why? I just know that it’s needed. It’s needed in every major city across the country,” he said.
Kelleher said his goal is to make a shower for the homeless available in every major New England city.
