WATERVILLE – One of the Kennebec Messalonskee Trails in the greater Waterville area is now closed due to multiple trail rules being broken.
Scott McAdoo, the President of the organization that oversees the trails, said the last few years there have been issues with people littering, camping and burning debris on the trails which are all against the trails rules.
But on Wednesday something happened on the Leeman Island Trail that crossed the line.
” I think the final straw when was when i went down and actually saw our signs physically broken. This is actually the first time we’ve actually had to make this difficult and disheartening decision for us to actually close one of our trails,” McAdoo said.
He said he expects the trail to be reopened in mid to late June.
