PORTLAND (WGME) – Shackled in chains and wearing a jumpsuit, the man accused of killing a Christmas tree farmer appeared before a judge Thursday.
Quinton Hanna is charged not only with murder but also is accused of sexually assaulting a woman and more.
On the way to court, Hanna allegedly assaulted a corrections officer, sending him to the hospital.
Days later, there is still no clear motive — but in a motion filed by the state, prosecutors write that Quinton Hanna’s mother reported he’s schizophrenic and may have been off his medication.
For now, Hanna is being held without bail.
The judge has granted a request for a psychological evaluation to determine his mental condition.
