BANGOR – West Market Square just got a lot more festive.
Wednesday morning, the city’s tree arrived, ahead of the annual Festival of Lights parade this weekend.
The tree is more than 30 feet tall and was donated by Dan Sprague.
Folks with Hearts Electric gave their time to set it up and Hathaway Holiday Lights is donating the decorations, which are said to be bigger and better this year.
Downtown coordinator Betsy Lundy said the lighting of the tree will be a little extra special on Saturday.
“The Hampden Academy choir is going to come on stage at the end of the parade when the tree is lit, and lead the crowd in some Christmas carols,” Lundy said.
The parade kicks off around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
