DEXTER – Police apprehended nearly two dozen fugitives who were on the ‘moo-ve’ in Dexter Tuesday.
According to Dexter Police Chief Kevin Wintle, a Maine State Trooper found 23 cows roaming freely near Zions Hill Road around 12:30 in the afternoon.
A handful of officers from State Police and Dexter Police, as well as civilian bystanders, ‘steered’ the animals towards a nearby pasture.
Within about an hour, the cows were secured and the Dexter resident who owns them was notified.
The chief says they get three or four cow complaints a year, but he told us in his 20+ years on the job he’s never dealt with an incident like this.
Chief Wintle thanked the State Police and civilians who helped get the situation under control.
