BANGOR- To celebrate the end of their 2019 fundraising campaign and their volunteers, United Way of Eastern Maine hosted a finale kickoff Wednesday evening.
Local companies were recognized for meeting fundraising milestones.
Some of the donors even walked, or even drove out, with surprise prizes.
United Way of Eastern Maine helps the community in a multitude of ways by helping staff and fund places such as after school programs and substance use treatment facilities.
“They keep coming back year after year. We have 141 places that run campaigns throughout Eastern Maine,” Shirar Patterson, the president and CEO of United Way of Eastern Maine said. “We have hundreds of volunteers out there to raise the funds.”
So far, the campaign has raised more than $1.5 million.
