BANGOR — At the Airport Mall on Union Street, the Urban Air Adventure Park is officially open to bring family entertainment to the area.
“We’ve wanted to be in Bangor for three years. We have another park in South Portland. I’m from Downeast, so I know a lot about Bangor and I felt it’s a great thing for the city of Bangor. It took us another year, once we found our place, to build it,” owner Anthony Dill said.
But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dill said he had to create a cleaning protocol for employees and customers to follow, which includes a limit on the number of people who can enter the center, a two-hour limit for customers and a mandatory mask guideline.
“It’s very important that we are doing our enhanced cleaning protocol, the health and safety of our customers is paramount and fun comes second, we’re trying to do both,” Dill said.
The park, which was officially cleared to open as Phase III of Gov. Janet Mills’ reopening plan, has rope courses, climbing walls, trampolines, obstacle courses, arcade games and more.
“It’s a safe, fun option for kids, which is tough nowadays. Also, you get kids engaged and off the phones and off their Playstations and out of the house. You almost fool them into where they’re playing but their also getting a lot of exercise and also their parents are.”
