ST. ALBANS – Sheriff’s deputies in Somerset County said speed and wet road conditions were factors in a fatal crash Thursday.
Deputies were called to Palmyra Road in St. Albans for a two-vehicle crash around 4:50 p.m.
Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell said 20-year-old Heather Gallagher, 20, of St. Albans was traveling south when she lost control of her car and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
The driver of that car, 65-year-old Susan Skillin of Cambridge, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gallagher was taken to the hospital with a broken leg.
No other people were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
